i love this reframing!!!! i think there are some items in my life that i love SO so much, but i also love my experiences as well. such an important thing to have a blend of both :))

I'm also a Loop devotee. Can't even go to the movies without them these days. How badly have I damaged my hearing in the past?? My mother works at Costco and also can't get through a shift without them now. Talk about a small thing for a huge boost in quality of life. I've definitely been in the boat of saying that experiences are worth more, and that might be true when it comes to mindless spending or excessive purchases like cheap clothing, but I absolutely agree that there are still a lot of material possessions that may outweigh the fleeting moments of an experience OR enhance that experience. I also appreciated my hiking socks (and shoes!) and my personal fan when I was hiking in Costa Rica.

So agree!! I wonder the same thing about how much of my hearing I’ve damaged in the past without them

Loved this post and 100% agree with you! I felt this deeply when I finally splurged almost $200 on Birkenstocks after buying $15 sandal for years. And they turned to be the most comfortable shoe I’ve ever owned, now almost four years later I still think about it every time I put them on. Also, they lasted almost 4 years lol

P.S I’m going to see Hozier twice this November for his two shows in New Zealand! Gotta take advantage of this since the last time he’s been on this side of the globe was like five years ago 😄

That’s awesome!! Enjoy the shows. And I totally agree, one other thing I didn’t mention in this is the amount I’ve spent on sneakers in the past year! So so worth it to have comfortable shoes

Great point. There’s so much more nuance to that phrase than everyone gives credit for. I bought a new pair of skis end of season (so a good deal!) and you can bet my experience skiing on them is only adding to the fun!

Totally agree with you that sometimes stuff is just as good or better than experiences. I like a blend of both.
