What a great graph! I'm a financial social worker and I use something similar with clients who struggle with spending on clothes or some similar area. It helps to think strategically about what you're happy spending money on and where it makes sense for you to spend money vs where it doesn't - especially when you're not in the heat of the shopping moment. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks! I’m thinking of doing the same type of chart for other areas where I spend money! Clothing was just the first that came to mind

Loooove the chart ! I have a Notion page with all my clothing spends of the year and I rate each items with a ❤️ or 💔. Since 2020, I’ve been in a journey to reduce my shopping addiction and every year it’s getting better. So far I’ve only spent 500€ (sorry euros here lol) on clothing in 2024, while it was what I could spent easily in a month before haha. Thanks for sharing !

I love that, that notion page sounds like a great way to reflect!

This was very interesting - thank you for the perspective! I also have a huge issue with spending too much money on clothes and shoes and being impulsive even though I use a budget tracking app and also have a physical budget planner...I try to donate a considerable amount of items to my local thrift store before I even consider buying something new and I made a wish list note in my phone with the name of each item and the price to help me wait on buying something vs. buying immediately.

I love the bring one in donate one mentality! I mostly follow that too, also bc I have a tiny NYC apartment with only one small closet so I sort of have to haha

I buy going out clothes / occasion clothing when I see something good on sale.

Here to say that spending on better quality socks turned out to be one of the best decisions I’ve made. They last longer, but also feel better which matters when wearing something for 8+ hours. Wishing you very happy feet 🥳

I love this! The graph visual is so helpful and cute! I love that you set a budget of how much you spent on clothing — I had a goal this year on how many pieces I could buy. It was more of an effort to slow consumption than save money, but I find by impulse shopping less, I'm saving money either way.

Love the idea of pieces to buy! I also try to follow an item out, item in philosophy, so it’s more like I’m replacing an item that’s worn out or I don’t like anymore
