Love this transparency, thanks for sharing! I've found job hopping is the easiest way to increase your salary. Every time I've moved to a new company I've gotten about a $15k-$20k raise — even if it was a lateral title move.
"It’s amazing what a few months of being able to do a pilates class at 10:30am followed by a long walk in Central Park can do for someone’s mental state" --> Lifelong dream of mine. - Salary transparency in the corporate world is key. I wish more people understood this.
Thanks for sharing! Is your corporate experience also in engineering? I love how you’re working on passion projects and your newsletter. I am on sabbatical now, trying to figure out my next move as well :)
Enjoy your sabbatical! And some of it has been in engineering - I started off in supply chain/inventory management (just kind of fell into that role because I loved the company) and then switched back to more quality engineering before most recently entering a program management type role where I dabbled between the two. I honestly enjoyed the work in all those fields and am more focused on company fit than the job responsibilities with figuring out what's next
Thank you for sharing details about your salary!! I know it can take a lot of courage. I noticed that you were able to get $10K raises twice in your career? Despite having positive performance reviews, all of my raises have always been at the rate of inflation, around 2%. Sending good vibes for the recruiting process - I know it's a tough market out there!
Yes I have! It was a combination of things, but they were both more for promotions than a standard raise, so that helped. But I also had to advocate for myself both times to get raises (and had supportive managers at those times who advocated for me as well). I feel like inflation has been above 2% recently so hopefully you can get better raises soon!

Agreed! It’s also a great way to grow in a career. I’ve learned more new things in a new role when I’ve switched companies

Yay to salary transparency, even though I can never get my head around US figures 😵💫
